The staff of Hydramet has been involved with water treatment, chlorinators, chlorine gas and chemical metering generally for over 20 years. Our staff and management team comprises of experienced personnel involved with the design, construction, maintenance and servicing of chlorinators, chlorination and chemical metering systems, throughout Australia, during the last two decades. During this time, our staff have been involved with supply and commissioning of major potable and wastewater treatment applications.
Training
It is through this involvement and regular communications with the regulatory bodies and chlorine gas suppliers, that Hydramet has gained a detailed working understanding of the operations, acceptable and proven safety and operational procedures. Chlorine Systems Maintenance Training
All personnel who are directly involved in the operation and maintenance of chlorination systems should be properly trained according the the Australian Standard AS2927: 2001: The Storage and Handling of Liquified Chlorine Gas.
Chlorine training provided by Hydramet includes the mandatory subjects as listed in AS2927 and are reproduced below under licence by Australian Standards*

5.4 PERSONNEL TRAINING
5.4.1 Job knowledge
All personnel, including contractors and their staff, who are directly involved in the operation and maintenance of the chlorine store and system shall be:
(a) fully informed of the hazards associated with chlorine; and
(b) properly trained in the operation or maintenance of the equipment, as appropriate
5.4.2 Training
Training shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following subjects for all personnel:
(a) The nature of the work and safe methods of operation
(b) The properties of, and hazards associated with, the storage and handling of chlorine and its associated equipment on the premises
(c) Site safety regulations, including restrictions on movement, access and activities
(d) The location of first aid equipment, and first aid measures to be taken
(e) The correct use of personal protective equipment, and its care and maintenance
(f) Emergency procedures, covering leaks, fires and explosions, in consultation with the appropriate authorities and the chlorine supplier
(g) Conditions and obligations of work permits, including confined space entry permits
(h) Any changes made to plant, equipment or operating procedures
Training shall be carried out under a formalized system. Records of training provided to personnel, and the results obtained shall be kept
The training program shall provide for refresher courses on a periodic basis whenever there are changes to plant personnel and procedures
Contractors and their staff shall be trained, as appropriate, in the specific tasks to be performed
Maintenance & Servicing
Our qualified trade staff can offer maintenance and servicing contracts on all our water treatment systems, including gas chlorination, chemical metering and UV installations. Hydramet has service & test facilities in every branch to ensure installations meet the required Australian Standards. Annual and one-off servicing contracts can be negotiated and Hydramet can, on request, offer a warranty service package which may be extended to an ongoing service contract for an agreed term. Tailored maintenance plans can also include call-out and emergency response services as required.
